RSY, FEBRUARY 15, 2007

Dear Christian Brothers and Sisters,
There is a dangerous trend in the federal courts today.  It's sweeping from courtroom ... to cloak room ... to the halls of Congress.

It's called CENSORSHIP ... and its got Christians in the cross-hairs.

In the last two weeks, the ACLJ has initiated two major projects, both involving the right to proclaim biblical worldviews on television and radio.  Both present enormous ramifications for Christian broadcasters, as well as people of faith, nationwide.

Please stand with us as we go head-to-head against this blatant attack on religious freedom and free speech.  Your gift today will support our crucial legislative efforts as these measures go forward.

The first case is actually in federal court right now.  It involves the use of a common phrase by a Christian radio station with a biblical component or potential biblical worldview.

The moment key phrases and words can actually be deemed ''off-limits'' by broadcasters is the beginning of a dangerous trend towards censorship ... and the end of free speech for Christians.

It is imperative that America's airwaves remain open for the proclamation of the Gospel and the communication of a biblical worldview.

How is it that ''shock-jocks'' such as Howard Stern can fill the airwaves with every filth imaginable, yet Christian broadcasters must dilute their message?

This is an outrage!  Let your voice be heard loud and clear today by standing with me and the ACLJ on this critical issue.

In the 1990s, I handled a similar case that went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States.  In
Turner v. FCC, a so-called ''interfaith coalition'' actually asserted that providing cable access to Christian broadcasters violated Separation of Church and State!  We were successful and won at the Supreme Court.

We have assembled an expert legal team to handle this most recent case and will continue doing all that is necessary - researching the law, preparing legal memorandums, working on briefs, and filing legal documents.

Make no mistake:  your Christian viewpoint has a constitutional right to be heard and expressedWe will work tirelessly to see that religious censorship does not become the newest evil of our day.

On the legislative front, as I've mentioned in previous communications with you, members of Congress and some well-known liberal organizations are seeking to silence the voice of Christians ... through Lobbying Legislation Reform and the introduction of the Fairness Doctrine.

Our Government Affairs office is working diligently and aggressively to stay on top of this dangerous trend and make sure this type of legislation does not get passed.

But they have their work cut out for them!  With the current line-up in Congress, we are very concerned this legislation just might carry the day.

We cannot allow this to happen.  For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we cannot roll over and let free speech become a freedom of the past ... we cannot let religious freedom go under the knife of censorship.  Please give your best gift today to fuel our efforts.

Thank you!
